Where To Go (Besides the Beach) in PCB

By January 17, 2019 No Comments

Obviously, when you are going to visit Panama City Beach, the beach is the first place you’ll think to go! But what happens if it rains or the waves make it too dangerous to be out there? What will you do now? We have compiled a list of our favorite things to do in Panama City Beach other than the beach! Note: This article is not sponsored, but based purely off of our opinions.

Shipwreck Island Waterpark

If it’s still a beautiful day, but you are just not feeling the beach that day, head on over to Shipwreck Island Waterpark! You will find something for everyone here- they’ve got it all! The lazy river, a wave pool, and they’ve even got a zip line!  For the older kids, you can drop from the Tree Top Drop, a high free-fall slide, race others down the Pirate’s Plunge Racing Slide, and ride an inner tube through rapids at the Raging Rapids River. For the younger crowd, they’ve got an activity pool with miniature slides. We definitely recommend Shipwreck Island Waterpark for anyone looking for a fun day in the sun!

Sea Dragon Pirate Cruise

Another classic for the entire family! On the Sea Dragon Pirate Cruise, your kids get to live like a pirate for a day and you get to relax. This is perfect towards the end of your trip when Mom and Dad are getting tired but the kiddos still have plenty of energy. While you kick back with a refreshment and enjoy the beautiful view of St. Andrew’s Bay, your kids will get to swab the deck, fire off the “kid cannon”, and get their faces painted! The crew will be on the lookout for wildlife, so you may even be lucky enough to see a dolphin or two on your 2 hour cruise of the bay!

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and Wonderworks

We paired these together because they are probably the two best indoor attractions at PCB. Both are family friendly with plenty of things to do once you get inside! Ripley’s Believe It or Not features a replica of the world’s tallest man, a mirror maze, and a laser race! Go to Ripley’s and formulate your own opinion, it’s up to you to believe it or not! Wonderworks is an indoor amusement park found in many tourist destinations. Wonderworks prides itself on being “edu-tainment” as it is definitely a fun way to learn about science! There are over 100 interactive exhibits for you to enjoy. Both of these indoor entertainment sites are fun and educational for all ages!

Shell Island Snorkeling and Dolphin Tours

This tour is a fun way to relax and see more wildlife than you’d see just hanging out on the beach. You will board a pontoon boat and get to take a tour of the Gulf, and hopefully see some dolphins passing by! They allow plenty of time for underwater discoveries of sand dollars, sea urchins, and other underwater creatures. Every tour makes a stop at Shell Island where you can take some time to relax on the beach! Shell Island Snorkeling and Dolphin Tours is a great way to shake up the traditional beach vacation!

Pier Park

Pier Park Panama City Beach Florida sign

Pier Park is located right across the street from the beach. This center features over 120 stores from traditional chain store (yes, there’s a Target!) to local shops. Pier Park also has some of the best restaurants in Panama City Beach scattered throughout the mall. There is also a variety of entertainment, from life music to laser tag to an IMAX theater! No matter what you’re in the mood for, Pier Park has it all!
